Carry the Cross with MSP: Dare to Take a Stand for Christ!

Saturday June 10th, 2017 marked something special.  Not only was it the first Carry the Cross with MSP of 2017 but a city aldermen saw us from the local Fairgrounds park and came over to join us; walking up and down North Grand.
Local rap artists Reuben Jones, Rob Redeemed and MiNiMe (sound courtesy of DJ G & New Life Music) stopped on street corners to give short performances followed by personal testimonies of what God has done in their own lives.  During one stop, Rob Redeemed shared the story of how God completely healed him of cancer.  A couple nearby heard his testimony and almost immediately gave their lives to Christ.
Lives were affected that day.  Many stopped to stare, a few glared, some took photos and video, while still more were reminded of a faith in which they had lost all hope.  7 MSP Hot Sheets were filled out with those seeking various types of community assistance programs, job training and placement into a church home.

MSP Street Report – June 3rd, 2017

Saturday marked the kick off date for Men Standing Positive’s 2017 outreach and event season.  Before those gathered had even left the building, a young man walked in.  At first everyone thought he came to volunteer, turns out he had just moved back to St. Louis and was walking down N. Grand looking for a job.  He said something told him to come inside the church- so he did.  The man came directly down the aisle, rededicated his life to God and spent the afternoon with MSP on outreach.

Soon after, everyone split up into small teams and headed out into the neighborhood. Between going door to door and flagging down cars to hand out flyers for the MSP Total Transformation Conference: 1 person received Jesus and 7 MSP Hot Sheets were filled out for those looking for a church home and others needing assistance. RSVP below to our next outreach and event dates.

Opportunity Follows Honesty// #IMPACTEASTSIDE Street Report

MSP Outreach- Saturday October 4th, 2014

“I need a job!” Not the first words you expect to hear upon meeting a stranger, but at least she was honest. During Saturday’s outreach, the entire team was walking through a neighborhood off State Street. Everyone stopped on a corner where a group of family and friends had gathered. When Mike ‘MiNiMe’ Wuebbles asked if anyone needed anything, a young lady spoke up “Yeah- I need a job!” He replied, “Well- we can help with that!” While she was filling out the Hot Sheet with her information, Mike began to talk with her and asked if she had ever asked Jesus to come into her heart. The lady replied she had been baptized and gone to church a few times, but that was it. Pastor Frank Jackson and Mike ‘MiNiMe’ Wuebbles immediately began to explain the Gospel to her and what it meant to accept Christ as your Savior. During the conversation, her entire face began to change as she realized the truth of what Jesus had done for her. The young lady decided it was time to repent and receive all of what Christ had to offer because of the cross. With tears of gratitude in her eyes and a smile on her face, she said no one from a local church had ever come down her street before, and she had lived in the same house for 6 years. The next day, the young lady went to the nearby Harvest Church Illinois for Sunday service. She has also been receiving some needed food and additional assistance.

The Music Matters // #IMPACTEASTSIDE Street Report

MSP Outreach- Saturday October 18th, 2014

You’ve heard it said, “Where words fail…music speaks.” And they were right. Song lyrics play a pivotal role within one’s mind and subconscious. Without even trying to learn the words, you can often find yourself humming the tune and singing along without a second thought. This is the power of music and this is why it matters. Those lyrics have the ability to shape your thoughts, your mindset, and eventually your actions. On Saturday afternoon, Mike ‘MiNiMe’ Wuebbles was walking down a neighborhood street and came across two young boys listening to negative rap music on their porch. He asked them what the song was about and they replied it was a man talking about his girlfriend. Mike ‘MiNiMe’ Wuebbles explained to the boys that the song was actually degrading and disrespecting women- including his older sister, who had come out of the house a few minutes earlier. He then proceeded to share with them the importance of the music you listen to; how it shapes your mindset and will influence your future. Constantly filling your head with the latest rap songs causes you to start thinking like that music and wanting to live that lifestyle. A gangster mindset only causes strife, keeping entire communities locked in poverty and without hope. In addition, Mike ‘MiNiMe’ Wuebbles began telling them about Jesus. All three kids had never asked for Jesus to come into their heart, and decided to right away. After praying, one boy sprinted home to tell his grandma and the other two ran back inside to tell their uncle. In just one afternoon, all three kids learned the importance of listening to a positive music message and received the truth of Christ into their hearts-which they will never forget.

MSP Block Party // Summer 2014

This past summer Men Standing Positive hosted one block party in East St. Louis, Illinois. Despite the heat, everyone had a great time- especially the kids as they chased each other around the parking lot with water guns. DJ G kept the party going while T-Jones, StLien, and MiNiMe brought awesome music and a dynamic Word. Our partner for this event- the Rock Church in Soulard came out and provided free food, drink, and clothing to anyone in need. Three people signed up for a local church home, two registered to vote, and many came forward at the end to re-dedicate their lives to Christ. A big thank you to all who came out, our volunteers, and our partners. We are already excited for the block parties to come in 2015! We hope to see you there! Click Here for a recap video of the event. Click Here for photos! Please join our Facebook group MSP Block Party to stay informed about upcoming events. Feel free to post any comments or questions you may have!

Carry the Cross with MSP // Looking Back at Summer 2014

Imagine, walking out of a local store late on a Saturday afternoon- depressed and seriously contemplating suicide. You have traveled the world and seen it all, but somewhere deep down there is a missing piece. You cannot seem to figure it out and have lost all hope. When suddenly, you look up ahead and see a cross, carried by a man who is followed by a group of people. Instantly, you know that your answer is there, standing right in front of you. An overwhelming sense of peace, joy, and restoration surrounds your heart; all the thoughts and feelings of suicide are gone. You are free!!

The scenario just described above is exactly what happened to a man as he saw the group carrying the cross across a parking lot. He was extremely depressed and ready to end his life. But, when he laid eyes on the cross, everything changed. He was instantly touched and discovered the reason to keep on living. The cross carries the solution to any problem or issue you may be facing. Jesus is the answer.

This is just one example of the many lives that were touched this past summer as Men Standing Positive carried the cross down the streets of St. Louis. On the corners, we stopped to pray and minister to multiple people at a time. Many received Christ, others received a Word of knowledge, and also signed up for hot sheets, in need of a church home and further assistance. Carry the Cross with MSP is a unique form of outreach as we have discovered the cross speaks for itself. Simply dragging the cross down the road, passersby usually stop directly and stare with a look of deep thought. Some cars honk as they go by and some people roll down their windows and spit at the cross. Regardless, seeing a group of people dragging a cross down the street is going to make you pause for a moment and think. This Fall and in 2015 we are very excited to take the cross into even more communities across the area. MSP Outreach // Summer 2014 In Review

Walking through the streets, you see and meet people- experiencing their daily reality on an authentic and intimate level. As you stand on their doorstep, porch, or the sidewalk in front of their home, they invite you into their life for a few short minutes, revealing a small portion of who they are and where they have come from. You begin to re-evaluate your own life and realize there is a whole separate world outside your own neighborhood and social circle. People are people, we come from different backgrounds, but we all encounter similar hardships and challenges; they just have a unique face. When you recognize this reality, your entire worldview shifts. You become sensitive and eager to reach the people around you.

All throughout summer 2014, Men Standing Positive spent Saturday afternoons out on the streets of different communities; speaking with residents and spreading the word about upcoming events. We meet them right where they are at- taking the time to see what they need, pray for, and encourage them. Men Standing Positive uses a Hot Sheet system to follow up with and keep track of those who requested help with finding a church home and assistance programs. Before an outreach, we always partner with the local churches in that area, so we have somewhere nearby to send the residents. Men Standing Positive has also been focusing on getting in contact with programs that provide training and assistance to those who need it. Some examples are Mission St. Louis, Crisis Nursery, Job Core, Forgiven and Free, New Life Evangelistic Center, and Trinity Outreach Center. Look for upcoming blog posts regarding the specific organizations and their direct partnership with Men Standing Positive. This summer’s MSP Outreaches definitely left an impact with over 17 salvations, 14 people placed in church homes, and 9 seeking a connection with assistance programs. The team here is very excited for the upcoming outreaches this Fall and going into 2015. Below are some photos from this past summer and our main outreach informational video.
