2nd Annual MSP Fun Fest with Dunbar Kids// Event Highlights

Saturday November 21st, 2015 was the 2nd annual MSP Fun Fest with Dunbar Kids and it marked the final event of the year.  It was a very brisk wintry day, so attendance was lower than expected, but everyone who came out had a blast; from the the smallest child to the oldest adult.  Saved, St Lien, and MiNiMe did a fantastic job performing on stage as DJ G kept the music blasting.  Over 25 people showed up to volunteer and gave generously of their effort and time.  Four people gave their life to Christ and several others were able to fill out a Hot Sheet for additional assistance.

Men Standing Positive would like to thank the follow organizations and individuals: Concept Remodels for the advertising sponsorship, the Rock Church in Soulard for the free clothing and Thanksgiving meal, DJ G with New Life Music, Blanks Bounce House, East St. Louis School District 189, Dunbar Elementary School, and Principle Coleman for the facility, gift baskets, and support.  And last but not least, to everyone who came out- participant and volunteer, without everyone working as a team this event would not have been possible.  The Men Standing Positive team can hardly to wait see what next year has in store for Dunbar Elementary and the kids!  Be on the lookout for the highlight video coming soon, and read below for what some had to say about MSP Fun Fest 2015!  Click Here to View the Photos!!

‘Til Next Year…See You on the Streets!

As an educator, I encourage my students to ‘pay it forward’.  They had a chance to see words turn into action.  The Fun Fest was just an inspirational sight to see.  MiNiMe is awesome and I look forward to volunteering next year.

Fun Fest was awesome!  I think it’s awesome that MSP finds a way to reach the community.  One thing that they always do is feed people.  Even if it’s just a bag of chips.  It’s funny how food brings people together.  Not only that, but the sound is always great.  There just seems to be joy and peace in the atmosphere whenever MSP throws an event.  You can’t say that about every ministry.  I have done events all over the city and I’ve seen a lot of things.  A ministry that is consistent will stand long.  My hat goes off to MSP and what they do for the city.  MSP Fun Fest was nothing different.  It is what is to be expected from MSP!  Any event full of Jesus, full of God, full of joy, full of love, full of peace, and smiles.

~ St. Lien, MSP Fun Fest Artist

This is by far my most favorite event of the school year.  Not only does it allow me the opportunity to fellowship with members of the community, but  MiNiMe is such an inspiration and motivation to the students.  His ability to leave such a profound and long~lasting impression is truly something to be admired.

~C. Coleman, PLD Principal

Matthew 25:34-40 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

Matthew 25:21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’ ”

He can say it better than I.  Great work for His Kingdom.  Glad to be a part.

~G. Collins, The Rock Church in Soulard Volunteer

It was refreshing to see a young artist give back to the community.  Everything was top notch and I can’t wait until next year.

Amidst the chaos going on in East St. Louis, the murders, and recent teacher strike- an underground awakening is happening. Now that the smoke from the strike has cleared and students have returned to the classroom, many are calling for change. Local leaders, parents, and students are beginning to take a stand for their community- recognizing the impact they have in their own neighborhoods to make a difference. Last year Men Standing Positive spent fall 2014 on the streets of East St. Louis and in the Washington Park community doing outreach, a block party, and a conference- the movement was titled Impact East Side. The Day Blue’s Life Changed Forever

Saturday August 8th, 2015 marked the day Blue’s life changed forever.  No matter what you have seen on TV, watched in a movie, or read in the Bible, actually witnessing a man getting set free from demonic possession is powerful experience.  It will challenge any prior judgments and assumptions you may have on how it’s “supposed” or “not supposed” to look.  Saturday afternoon the MSP team and volunteers left the Rock Church in Soulard fully expecting God to direct their steps as they carried the cross down Kingshighway.  Almost immediately, the team walked up to two men- Blue and Tony, who were arguing at the bus stop, right outside the Walgreen’s parking lot.  Blue had been telling Tony about his suicidal thoughts and asked him if he would just shoot him and end all the pain. Right away Pastor Frank and MiNiMe began to speak with Tony as Blue stomped off, upset, mad, and cursing because they were talking about God.  As Tony was receiving prayer, Blue was on the other side stumbling in and out of the street, cursing loudly about God and the group- to the point that it was a major distraction.  After they were done speaking with Tony, MiNiMe was going to go buy him a meal.  As they went to cross the street, Blue stepped right in front of MiNiMe and blocked his path.  Immediately, MiNiMe confronted him about the demons and asked if he wanted to be free of all of it.  Blue hesitated, struggling for a few minutes and then said yes.  As Pastor Frank and MiNiMe laid hands on Blue and commanded the spirits to go, the entire team began to surround them in prayer.  Immediately the spirits began to leave and Blue started to confess aloud that they go away and never return.  MiNiMe then asked Blue if he wanted a personal relationship with Jesus, and he eagerly said yes.  By this time, Blue’s entire countenance and mannerisms had changed.  After accepting Jesus, he had a huge smile on his face, light in his eyes, and kept saying, “I’m free! Yes, I am free!”  As Blue filled out an MSP Hot Sheet, he explained that for years he had been bothered by demons and their voices telling him to end his life.  Anything and everything he had tried to make them go away would never work.  However right after the prayer, Blue said it all left- instantly.  He was so thankful to be free and couldn’t wait to go home and tell everyone about Jesus and this new freedom.  A couple of hours later when the team was on their way back to the church, Blue saw Gary and Pastor Frank in the truck.  They picked him up and then dropped him off where he lived.  MSP will be putting Blue into a church home and getting him some extra assistance.  Blue also gave a short testimony on video that afternoon; be on the lookout for that story soon!! If you are interested in impacting lives and getting involved with Men Standing Positive as a volunteer simply Click Here to fill out the form and someone will contact you soon.

Until Next Time…See YOU on the Streets!

Boldness in Love // MSP Outreach Street Report

Saturday August 1st, 2015 the Men Standing Positive team prayed with many on the streets; two accepted Christ, and three filled out MSP Hot Sheets for extra assistance.  It’s not everyday you get a chance to do street ministry with those truly led by the Holy Spirit and bold enough to unashamedly share God’s love.  MSP Ministries has the great privilege of working with dedicated volunteers who even understand how to reach people most everyone would completely disregard.  Many lives have been touched because someone on our outreach team had the courage to speak to them or even simply smile.  Nowadays in our busy society, everyone seems to pay more attention to their phone than the person walking next to them or waiting in line at the store.  Outreach isn’t just across the world in a foreign land; outreach is about reaching those at your job and those in your own neighborhood.  You are surrounded by those people for a reason- you possess the love of God inside you and the ability to share it.  So be bold- let the love that conquered the grave out for the world to see.  It’s what they desperately need, they just don’t realize because they can’t see it.  So show them- be bold.

Until Next Time… See YOU On The Streets!

Sharing Hope // MSP Outreach Street Report

Saturday July 25th, 2015 was a hot afternoon well-spent on the streets of St. Louis. The MSP Outreach team headed to Gravois Road, walking up and down the street stopping at gas stations and store front parking lots. Despite the intense heat, many people were out and about running errands or just trying to stay cool. Everyone we spoke to seemed excited about the upcoming Total Transformation Conference and a few even took extra flyers to pass out to others. Several people wanted prayer for healing; one lady had respiratory issues and one man’s sister dealt with cystic fibrosis. The team stood in agreement that all issues would cease in Jesus’ name. Last but not least, five people were led to Christ and six people filled out an MSP Hot Sheet for additional assistance. The summer heat didn’t stop God from moving in the lives of others as everyone followed His direction and voice.

Until Next Time… See YOU on the Streets!!!

Changing Lives on the Streets // Carry the Cross with MSP Report

Saturday June 20th, 2015 was the first Carry the Cross with MSP of the summer! The outreach had a positive turnout of volunteers including MiNiMe‘s dad, KG Wilson. He came in town to spend Father’s Day weekend in St. Louis. KG is a prominent activist and community leader in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was the first time the two of them had ever been on street outreach together. As the MSP team and volunteers walked the Soulard area, two people accepted Christ, three signed up for Hot Sheet assistance, and many others were prayed for and given words of encouragement.

Until next time… See YOU on the Streets!

Sean’s Story // MSP Transformation Report

In East St. Louis, IL at the July 2014 MSP Block Party, Sean came out, signed up for assistance on a Hot Sheet, and has never looked back since. Both homeless and jobless at the time of the block party, Men Standing Positive was able to connect Sean with two of our program partners. First, we sent Sean to the New Life Evangelistic Center where they met his housing needs for a short time. Next, he entered the Job Leadership Training program at Mission St. Louis and successfully graduated with honors. Today, Sean has a whole new outlook on life and continues to make progress every day. Watch below to see Sean’s complete life transformation.
