MSP Street Report – June 3rd, 2017

Saturday marked the kick off date for Men Standing Positive’s 2017 outreach and event season.  Before those gathered had even left the building, a young man walked in.  At first everyone thought he came to volunteer, turns out he had just moved back to St. Louis and was walking down N. Grand looking for a job.  He said something told him to come inside the church- so he did.  The man came directly down the aisle, rededicated his life to God and spent the afternoon with MSP on outreach.

Soon after, everyone split up into small teams and headed out into the neighborhood. Between going door to door and flagging down cars to hand out flyers for the MSP Total Transformation Conference: 1 person received Jesus and 7 MSP Hot Sheets were filled out for those looking for a church home and others needing assistance. RSVP below to our next outreach and event dates.

Merry Christmas & Happy 2016!!!

The closing of one year and the beginning of the next marks a period of significant transition. For Men Standing Positive, 2015 brought about many difficulties, shifts, and also victories. God has a plan and He is always good. This year the team spent their time in Ferguson, South City, Soulard, and in East St. Louis, IL. Over 22 people accepted Christ this year and we were able to place several others in church homes and programs for additional assistance. Below are a few highlights of 2015 we wanted to share with you-

  • In the spring, we created and released our very first video testimonial, called the ‘MSP Transformation Report’. Sean’s life was radically changed over a couple months as he attended Mission St. Louis’ Job and Leadership Training Program; graduating at the top of his class in the fall of 2014. Mission St. Louis is just one of the many programs we partner with to help reach people and transform lives. Be on the lookout next year for the testimony of a woman instantly set-free from depression, self-harm, and a suicide attempt. In a few short minutes, the truth of Jesus changed her life forever. We can’t wait to share her story with you.
  • After many years and piles of paperwork, Men Standing Positive receiving their 501(c)3 certification in July 2015. This will open a variety of opportunities in the near future with corporations, small businesses, and other organizations.
  • Last but not least, MSP gained two new sponsors- Concept Remodels and Saint Louis Christian College. Both have already assisted us in many ways- from monetary contributions for advertising, meeting facilities, event support, and more. For additional information on each please visit the Sponsor page on our website or blog.

We cannot thank our partners, sponsors, and volunteers enough for all they do to help make the mission and vision come to life. Without your support and involvement, none of this would be possible. So thank you! The Men Standing Positive team is extremely thankful, blessed, and eager to see what awaits in 2016. But until then, we hope you have very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with your families and friends! May God bless you this new year and always.

Love, The MSP Team

The Day Blue’s Life Changed Forever

Saturday August 8th, 2015 marked the day Blue’s life changed forever.  No matter what you have seen on TV, watched in a movie, or read in the Bible, actually witnessing a man getting set free from demonic possession is powerful experience.  It will challenge any prior judgments and assumptions you may have on how it’s “supposed” or “not supposed” to look.  Saturday afternoon the MSP team and volunteers left the Rock Church in Soulard fully expecting God to direct their steps as they carried the cross down Kingshighway.  Almost immediately, the team walked up to two men- Blue and Tony, who were arguing at the bus stop, right outside the Walgreen’s parking lot.  Blue had been telling Tony about his suicidal thoughts and asked him if he would just shoot him and end all the pain. Right away Pastor Frank and MiNiMe began to speak with Tony as Blue stomped off, upset, mad, and cursing because they were talking about God.  As Tony was receiving prayer, Blue was on the other side stumbling in and out of the street, cursing loudly about God and the group- to the point that it was a major distraction.  After they were done speaking with Tony, MiNiMe was going to go buy him a meal.  As they went to cross the street, Blue stepped right in front of MiNiMe and blocked his path.  Immediately, MiNiMe confronted him about the demons and asked if he wanted to be free of all of it.  Blue hesitated, struggling for a few minutes and then said yes.  As Pastor Frank and MiNiMe laid hands on Blue and commanded the spirits to go, the entire team began to surround them in prayer.  Immediately the spirits began to leave and Blue started to confess aloud that they go away and never return.  MiNiMe then asked Blue if he wanted a personal relationship with Jesus, and he eagerly said yes.  By this time, Blue’s entire countenance and mannerisms had changed.  After accepting Jesus, he had a huge smile on his face, light in his eyes, and kept saying, “I’m free! Yes, I am free!”  As Blue filled out an MSP Hot Sheet, he explained that for years he had been bothered by demons and their voices telling him to end his life.  Anything and everything he had tried to make them go away would never work.  However right after the prayer, Blue said it all left- instantly.  He was so thankful to be free and couldn’t wait to go home and tell everyone about Jesus and this new freedom.  A couple of hours later when the team was on their way back to the church, Blue saw Gary and Pastor Frank in the truck.  They picked him up and then dropped him off where he lived.  MSP will be putting Blue into a church home and getting him some extra assistance.  Blue also gave a short testimony on video that afternoon; be on the lookout for that story soon!! Boldness in Love // MSP Outreach Street Report

Saturday August 1st, 2015 the Men Standing Positive team prayed with many on the streets; two accepted Christ, and three filled out MSP Hot Sheets for extra assistance.  It’s not everyday you get a chance to do street ministry with those truly led by the Holy Spirit and bold enough to unashamedly share God’s love.  MSP Ministries has the great privilege of working with dedicated volunteers who even understand how to reach people most everyone would completely disregard.  Many lives have been touched because someone on our outreach team had the courage to speak to them or even simply smile.  Nowadays in our busy society, everyone seems to pay more attention to their phone than the person walking next to them or waiting in line at the store.  Outreach isn’t just across the world in a foreign land; outreach is about reaching those at your job and those in your own neighborhood.  You are surrounded by those people for a reason- you possess the love of God inside you and the ability to share it.  So be bold- let the love that conquered the grave out for the world to see.  It’s what they desperately need, they just don’t realize because they can’t see it.  So show them- be bold.

Until Next Time… See YOU On The Streets!

Sharing Hope // MSP Outreach Street Report

Saturday July 25th, 2015 was a hot afternoon well-spent on the streets of St. Louis. The MSP Outreach team headed to Gravois Road, walking up and down the street stopping at gas stations and store front parking lots. Despite the intense heat, many people were out and about running errands or just trying to stay cool. Everyone we spoke to seemed excited about the upcoming Total Transformation Conference and a few even took extra flyers to pass out to others. Several people wanted prayer for healing; one lady had respiratory issues and one man’s sister dealt with cystic fibrosis. The team stood in agreement that all issues would cease in Jesus’ name. Last but not least, five people were led to Christ and six people filled out an MSP Hot Sheet for additional assistance. The summer heat didn’t stop God from moving in the lives of others as everyone followed His direction and voice.

Until Next Time… See YOU on the Streets!!!

Changing Lives on the Streets // Carry the Cross with MSP Report

Saturday June 20th, 2015 was the first Carry the Cross with MSP of the summer! The outreach had a positive turnout of volunteers including MiNiMe‘s dad, KG Wilson. He came in town to spend Father’s Day weekend in St. Louis. KG is a prominent activist and community leader in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was the first time the two of them had ever been on street outreach together. As the MSP team and volunteers walked the Soulard area, two people accepted Christ, three signed up for Hot Sheet assistance, and many others were prayed for and given words of encouragement.

Until next time… See YOU on the Streets!

Expect the Unexpected // MSP Outreach Street Report

Saturday June 6th, 2015 marked the first official MSP Outreach of the summer.  Due to a scheduling conflict, there were no flyers for the upcoming Young Women’s Conference or Hot Sheets at the meeting place, but God still had a plan.  After prayer, the team promptly headed out to the streets of Soulard.  Only one block from the church, Adrienne Ransom and two other volunteers came across a man walking down the street.  He seemed highly frustrated as the two struck up a conversation.  The man had just had a major fight with his girlfriend, jumped out of her car, and did not know what to do. They had been having relationship issues for some time due to his drinking problem. Adrienne began to pray for him- that God would touch his heart and set him free from the alcohol. As the prayer ended, the man was in tears thanking God for sending help his way at that exact moment.
Simultaneously, two other team members- Bill and Mary Neumann, saw this man’s girlfriend crying in her car and had gone over to minister to her.  As the three of them talked, the woman explained her situation and how she felt helpless and alone.  As Adrienne and the man walked back over to his girlfriend’s car, she felt led to speak to the woman. She explained to her the importance of commitment, communication, and submitting to one another.  While they were talking, the man decided to get back into his girlfriend’s car. Next, Adrienne felt led to ask them to re-dedicate their lives to Jesus.  Both had the faith, but felt separated from God.  They agreed it was necessary to come to Jesus- individually and as a couple.  With tears streaming down their faces, the man and his girlfriend came back to Christ that day as the entire team surrounded them in prayer. The couple plans to keep God at the center of their lives and to start attending the Rock Church in Soulard together.  Despite the conflicts at the beginning, God still had a plan to reach that couple as the team obeyed His leading out on the streets. God will always turn a mess around for the best, if you allow Him. For more information about MSP outreach and events this summer please click here!

Carry the Cross with MSP // #Ferguson Street Report

On Saturday afternoon, February 7th, 2015, MSP Ministries and a group of student volunteers from St. Louis Christian College met at the Michael Brown Memorial Site in Ferguson for Carry the Cross with MSP. Everyone split up into groups- some stayed with the cross, and others went door to door, or simply stopped to talk with those out on the sidewalks and streets. At one point- traffic got backed up at a stop sign as several people in cars wanted prayer. One of the volunteers said it best and labeled it as the “drive-thru” prayer line. Once we walked out onto the main road W. Florissant, cars honked and people waved non-stop. After we got back to the vans, MSP was able to pass out food to some people who were in immediate need. In summary, the afternoon was a great success with beautiful weather; 2 people received Jesus and 14 people signed up for Hot Sheet assistance. Of the those who signed up- 2 have already been placed in suitable church homes and programs. MSP Ministries would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make this outreach possible. We look forward to seeing more and more support from the students at St. Louis Christian College. Here’s what Shalisha, one of the students, had to say about her experience at Carry the Cross with MSP–> “Today I was left speechless and in the realization of how important it is to spread God’s love to others. So thankful that I had the opportunity to serve with Men Standing Positive Ministries walking and witnessing on the streets of Ferguson.Looking forward to growing with all of you.”
