God Knows What You Need// MSP Young Women’s Conference

Saturday June 27th, 2015 marked the 2nd annual MSP Young Women’s Conference at the Rock Church in Soulard.  All participants had a life-changing evening as God’s presence filled the atmosphere.  Despite the late start, host Anna Hetz got the crowd excited before a powerful time of praise and worship led by Shawn and Tanya.  The three speakers, Mike “MiNiMe” Wuebbles, Candice Lauer, and Sheronda Money all shared inspiring messages of truth.  Intermixed between the speakers, Teasha Brown had prepared three praise dances which further emphasized the words that came forth.  During the altar call, several came forward for prayer, receiving deliverance and timely words of encouragement straight from the heart of God.  Last but not least, all attendees received free dinner following the service and the chance to sign up for a variety of assistance programs covering topics like job training, counseling, and much more.  Men Standing Positive would like to extend our deepest thanks to Pastor Ken and his wife Shawn of the Rock Church in Soulard, all volunteers, Crisis Nursery, New Life Evangelistic Center, Connections to Success, and People’s Community Action Center for helping make this night a success.  It would not have happened without their support and dedication.  We look forward to what God has in store for next year.  Check out some testimonies below from those who came to this year’s conference.

Until next time… See YOU on the streets!

“The MSP Women’s Conference was really really good. Sheronda’s words and Teasha’s praise dances spoke directly to my heart. What God showed me that night has started to come to pass and actually manifest. I still fight fear, but I am not angry anymore- it has been gone since that night. I realized I need to go directly to God when issues come up and things go wrong. It was a very powerful conference.”                                                             – Angela

“I enjoyed the MSP Young Women’s Conference at The Rock Church in Soulard very much, and felt that God definitely had something for me through the Praise and Worship Team and the Speakers. The Praise and Worship Team did an excellent job of preparing our hearts for what God had for us to hear through the speakers. Pastor Mike Wuebbles encouraged us to truly listen when we feel God is speaking to us in our life, to consider and “check ourselves”, especially when the Word of God impresses upon our hearts an attitude or behavior that we need to change. Truly renewing our minds as Romans 12:2 tells us with the Word of God enables us to hear God’s voice clearly and shed behaviors and ideas that we may have held since childhood that are not true to God’s Word and who the Bible tells us we are in Christ. Candice Lauer did a wonderful job of encouraging us with scripture and the story of Peter walking on the water with Jesus in Mark 6. Candice challenged us with the idea that Peter walking on the water was in order to show us the power that we have in Christ, and that we should be asking God, “What water can I walk on today for you?” Keeping our eyes on Jesus always! Sheronda Money gave a powerful testimony of God’s redemption and power in her life to forgive and the restoration she has found in Christ. She led in a great time of Holy Spirit filled prayers of confession and healing for many present at the Conference needing redemption and transformation in their lives that only God can bring. I look forward to next year’s MSP Young Women’s Conference and hope that many more will be able to come for this encouraging and challenging time spent in Praise and Worship, and in hearing about the power of God through real-life examples in the lives of women who have discovered the freedom and power of God in their own lives.”                                            -Dulce

“The Women’s Conference was the culmination of one small part of God’s body coming together bringing wellness and wholeness to our city. The speakers presentations were awesome as they shared the word of God and personal experience in their own lives. God’s restorative presence was experienced by all.”                             -Mary
“Had a great time at the meeting and watching the Spirit of God move upon His people! His words and the testimonies of His saints came forth with power. I was truly glad I came and was able to be a part of it. Seeing lives changed through the heart of this ministry is bringing great glory to God in the furtherance of His works of the gospel on the earth! Don’t miss out on what God is doing, and definitely do all you can to pray for and support those at MSP! I was truly touched by it all, and very thankful to hear God’s words come forth in power and minister to us all! Love you all! God bless you all and your precious works for the glory of His name! May we continue to see His salvation and deliverance come forth, in Jesus Christ name!”                                                                                                                                                  -Justice

Changing Lives on the Streets // Carry the Cross with MSP Report

Saturday June 20th, 2015 was the first Carry the Cross with MSP of the summer! The outreach had a positive turnout of volunteers including MiNiMe‘s dad, KG Wilson. He came in town to spend Father’s Day weekend in St. Louis. KG is a prominent activist and community leader in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was the first time the two of them had ever been on street outreach together. As the MSP team and volunteers walked the Soulard area, two people accepted Christ, three signed up for Hot Sheet assistance, and many others were prayed for and given words of encouragement.

Until next time… See YOU on the Streets!

Expect the Unexpected // MSP Outreach Street Report

Saturday June 6th, 2015 marked the first official MSP Outreach of the summer.  Due to a scheduling conflict, there were no flyers for the upcoming Young Women’s Conference or Hot Sheets at the meeting place, but God still had a plan.  After prayer, the team promptly headed out to the streets of Soulard.  Only one block from the church, Adrienne Ransom and two other volunteers came across a man walking down the street.  He seemed highly frustrated as the two struck up a conversation.  The man had just had a major fight with his girlfriend, jumped out of her car, and did not know what to do. They had been having relationship issues for some time due to his drinking problem. Adrienne began to pray for him- that God would touch his heart and set him free from the alcohol. As the prayer ended, the man was in tears thanking God for sending help his way at that exact moment.
Simultaneously, two other team members- Bill and Mary Neumann, saw this man’s girlfriend crying in her car and had gone over to minister to her.  As the three of them talked, the woman explained her situation and how she felt helpless and alone.  As Adrienne and the man walked back over to his girlfriend’s car, she felt led to speak to the woman. She explained to her the importance of commitment, communication, and submitting to one another.  While they were talking, the man decided to get back into his girlfriend’s car. Next, Adrienne felt led to ask them to re-dedicate their lives to Jesus.  Both had the faith, but felt separated from God.  They agreed it was necessary to come to Jesus- individually and as a couple.  With tears streaming down their faces, the man and his girlfriend came back to Christ that day as the entire team surrounded them in prayer. The couple plans to keep God at the center of their lives and to start attending the Rock Church in Soulard together.  Despite the conflicts at the beginning, God still had a plan to reach that couple as the team obeyed His leading out on the streets. God will always turn a mess around for the best, if you allow Him. For more information about MSP outreach and events this summer please click here!

The Steps that Count

Sunday March 29th, 2015, Pastor Frank Jackson and the congregation of the House of Prayer and Deliverance celebrated their 5 year anniversary.  Family and friends came to show their love and support.  A special service was planned and hostess Sheronda Money kept everything in order as she let God guide her.  Following two words of encouragement from Anna Hetz and Candice Lauer, praise and worship, and children performances, Assistant Pastor Mike “MiNiMe” Wuebbles brought the Word.  He spoke on the importance of stepping out into what God has called you to do, even if it seems impossible.  Not everything in your life is ever going to be “just right” when it comes to going after your purpose.  It’s the daily steps and diligent focus that really counts.  You cannot expect to do the great things if you will not do the small things.  Amidst the laughs, shouts, and complete silences, MiNiMe’s message made everyone stop and think about their purpose in life and why they may have never fully stepped out in faith.  Following God and pursuing your destiny will not always be easy, but it will always be worth it in the end.  To see more photos of the celebration Click Here!

Leadership Starts Off In The Back // #IMPACTEASTSIDE 2015

Sunday March 22, 2015, the Living Word Church in Washington Park, Illinois celebrated its 7 year anniversary.  Pastor Tommy Smith Jr, his wife, family, and congregation had spent the weekend reminiscing on the past years and looking forward to the good things to come.  Sunday afternoon service marked the final celebration to end the extended anniversary weekend.  Guest speaker, Mike ‘MiNiMe’ Wuebbles delivered a powerful and timely message titled, Leadership Starts Off in the Back.  Drawing examples from the story of Joseph, MiNiMe explained that leadership doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a process filled with ups and downs as God prepares you for your destiny. When Joseph first had the dream, he wasn’t anywhere near ready to lead a nation and its people. However, after being in charge of a prison and Potiphar’s house, God developed within him the wisdom and skills necessary to fulfill his calling.  Everyone in the congregation was able to take away a practical piece of insight from the message.  Men Standing Positive looks forward to the continued partnership with the Living Word Church and Pastor Tommy to leave a lasting impact in the Washington Park community.
In addition to ministering from the pulpit, MiNiMe was also able to minister out on the street that afternoon.  Shortly before the service began, one of the congregation members asked MiNiMe to walk across the street to talk to some people sitting out on their driveway.  The two of them crossed the street and began conversing with the group.  Because MiNiMe was all dressed up in a suit for church and even had on a mic, the men were intimidated, annoyed, and tried to start an argument.  They assumed based on his church clothes that MiNiMe had come to argue with and condemn them.  During street ministry it is vital that you relate to people on their level.  The service was about to begin, so MiNiMe quickly stopped the conversation and promised the group he would return after the message.  Immediately following the service, MiNiMe went back across the street. This time, the conversation went an entirely different direction.  Two of the men ended up getting saved, joined the church, and signed up for assistance programs on the MSP Hot Sheet.  Despite the rush and distraction, MiNiMe was able to minister to the group as God moved on their hearts.

Carry the Cross with MSP // #Ferguson Street Report

On Saturday afternoon, February 7th, 2015, MSP Ministries and a group of student volunteers from St. Louis Christian College met at the Michael Brown Memorial Site in Ferguson for Carry the Cross with MSP. Everyone split up into groups- some stayed with the cross, and others went door to door, or simply stopped to talk with those out on the sidewalks and streets. At one point- traffic got backed up at a stop sign as several people in cars wanted prayer. One of the volunteers said it best and labeled it as the “drive-thru” prayer line. Once we walked out onto the main road W. Florissant, cars honked and people waved non-stop. After we got back to the vans, MSP was able to pass out food to some people who were in immediate need. In summary, the afternoon was a great success with beautiful weather; 2 people received Jesus and 14 people signed up for Hot Sheet assistance. Of the those who signed up- 2 have already been placed in suitable church homes and programs. MSP Ministries would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make this outreach possible. We look forward to seeing more and more support from the students at St. Louis Christian College. Here’s what Shalisha, one of the students, had to say about her experience at Carry the Cross with MSP–> “Today I was left speechless and in the realization of how important it is to spread God’s love to others. So thankful that I had the opportunity to serve with Men Standing Positive Ministries walking and witnessing on the streets of Ferguson.Looking forward to growing with all of you.”

Both homeless and jobless at the time of the block party, Men Standing Positive was able to connect Sean with two of our program partners. First, we sent Sean to the New Life Evangelistic Center where they met his housing needs for a short time. Next, he entered the Job Leadership Training program at Mission St. Louis and successfully graduated with honors. Today, Sean has a whole new outlook on life and continues to make progress every day. Carry the Cross with MSP // #Ferguson Street Report

Here we are, a little over 5 months later, all the protester noise, media attention, and political hype has cleared. All that remains of the Michael Brown incident are the memorial site, burned down businesses, and a wounded community. The nation and world may have forgotten, but Ferguson and its people will never forget August 9th, 2014.

On Sat Jan 24th, 2015, MSP Ministries made our first move into the community with a Carry the Cross with MSP. Beginning at Ground Zero (aka. Michael Brown Memorial), a group of over 25 people walked around the neighborhoods and main street of W. Florissant sharing hope and the real love of Jesus.

MSP fully acknowledges that they do not have the answers to all that occurred that day nor do we intend to pick a side on the issue. However, we do plan to stand in the gap with the community and tear down the wall of racial division with the love of Christ. This is not an overnight process or quick fix, and MSP has no intent to leave in a hurry. We will stay until the job is done, media attention or not. People are what matter to God and that’s what matters to MSP.

On Saturday, 6 people gave their lives to Christ and 14 people signed up for Hot Sheet community assistance. Numerous were prayed for- in their cars and on the sidewalks, driveways, and streets. The guys even stopped to help a man rake and clean up brush in his front yard. As the cross was carried down W. Florissant, cars honked and many waved, showing sincere signs of gratitude and appreciation that their community was not being ignored or forgotten.

We challenge you to join us as we make our next move into the Ferguson community. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!! Below are the outreach recap video and some photos!

Come! Take a Stand and Carry the Cross with MSP!

Carry The Cross- Cover

On August 9th, 2014- the entire country and people around the world fixed their eyes on the Midwest- America’s Heartland. The shooting and death of Michael Brown left many hearts filled with hurt, anger, confusion, depression, rage, and uncertainty. Following the incident, the Grand Jury’s decision only succeeded in making the wound worse. It left the city of St. Louis even more divided than before with fear running rampant. From day one, many people contacted MSP wanting to know where we were at, why were we not out on the streets standing for justice and peace, and helping to rebuild the community. Our response is simple- God never gave us clearance to take action during those first tumultuous months except to pray. And pray we did, asking God for direction and guidance on when to make a move, a move at the right place and at the right time. Last month, MSP finally received our answer.

Saturday January 24th, 2015 come join MSP as we take a stand for the community of Ferguson and our entire beloved city, St. Louis. Beginning at Ground Zero, the place where Michael Brown breathed his last, we will be carrying the cross. This day is not a time to take sides on issues, though we do not ignore or lightly dismiss the seriousness of what occurred. Instead, Carry the Cross with MSP represents a time to take a stand, a stand for the only solution that will provide answers and a legitimate healing for all those who were, are, and will be affected in the future. This solution is the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Turning to Him is the only way that the Ferguson community, city of St. Louis, and the entire country will ever fully recover to rebuild and prosper in the coming days, weeks, months, and years. It all starts with individual lives hearing about the grace, power, and saving love of Jesus.

So we challenge you- to join us on the 24th– as we go out on the streets of Ferguson. Become a part of sharing the truth of Jesus’s love, praying for those interested, and signing people up who need assistance to change their lives for the better. MSP actively places people in church homes, job training classes, after-school programs, domestic violence shelters, and more! To take a stand with us- RSVP here or click the banner above. We hope to see you there!
