2017 MSP Fun Fest with Dunbar Kids

Starting in 2014- Men Standing Positive began working alongside Principal Coleman and the students at Dunbar Elementary. MSP Fun Fest is not just your average free event with live music, food and a bounce house. It’s an event designed to reach the students with a positive message through music. So not only do they have a great time but they leave having learned why they need to remain in school, why they need to respect authority and so much more. The students also hear that they are the agents of change to reach their local community and it all starts now- even while they are in elementary school.

Carry the Cross with MSP: Dare to Take a Stand for Christ!

Saturday June 10th, 2017 marked something special.  Not only was it the first Carry the Cross with MSP of 2017 but a city aldermen saw us from the local Fairgrounds park and came over to join us; walking up and down North Grand.
Local rap artists Reuben Jones, Rob Redeemed and MiNiMe (sound courtesy of DJ G & New Life Music) stopped on street corners to give short performances followed by personal testimonies of what God has done in their own lives.  During one stop, Rob Redeemed shared the story of how God completely healed him of cancer.  A couple nearby heard his testimony and almost immediately gave their lives to Christ.
Lives were affected that day.  Many stopped to stare, a few glared, some took photos and video, while still more were reminded of a faith in which they had lost all hope.  7 MSP Hot Sheets were filled out with those seeking various types of community assistance programs, job training and placement into a church home.

Change Your Mind – Transform Your Life // 2017 MSP Total Transformation Conference Recap

Logoandmike

June 24th, 2017:

Don’t judge me! You don’t understand! This isn’t my fault! You don’t know what they did to me!

“The number one enemy of change is blame.”

“Correction is painful.”

“What you can tolerate, you will never change.”
Saturday marked the first main community event of Men Standing Positive’s outreach and event season.  The 2017 MSP Total Transformation Conference was a powerful and impactful evening for all who attended.  Over 50 people of all ages came out from the North St. Louis community to receive a positive message, clothing, dinner and get connected with local program resources.  Praise and worship was led by Momentum– followed by a relevant and practical message by Mike “MiNiMe” Wuebbles.  Each and every person, regardless of age and background could relate to the truth and insight he gave on what it takes to discover, reach and experience a life of transformation.  Growth is painful, change is painful but true freedom lies on the other side of making the choice to never go back.  It all starts in the mind.  MiNiMe encouraged every single person listening to stop letting their past and bad habits control their present and destroy their future.  At the end, several came up for prayer and one person accepted Christ.
Men Standing Positive’s entire staff would like to thank the following for their hard work and dedication to make this conference possible:
Jubilee Community Church– Pastor Gill, Pastor Andy, Leadership Team, Staff and Members
Momentum–  Senior Leader Joel Hedlund & the Entire Team
Greater Image Photography– Event Sponsor
Changing Lives Today– Event Sponsor
Crisis Nursery– Program Partner
Regions Bank– Program Partner
Connections to Success– Program Partner
Finally, each and every single volunteer who came and spent their valuable time and talents to keep everything moving along! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!!
Be on the lookout for a recap video coming in the next couple day and the message for sale on DVD later this year!
Until next time… see YOU on the streets!

MSP Street Report – June 3rd, 2017

Saturday marked the kick off date for Men Standing Positive’s 2017 outreach and event season.  Before those gathered had even left the building, a young man walked in.  At first everyone thought he came to volunteer, turns out he had just moved back to St. Louis and was walking down N. Grand looking for a job.  He said something told him to come inside the church- so he did.  The man came directly down the aisle, rededicated his life to God and spent the afternoon with MSP on outreach.

Soon after, everyone split up into small teams and headed out into the neighborhood. Between going door to door and flagging down cars to hand out flyers for the MSP Total Transformation Conference: 1 person received Jesus and 7 MSP Hot Sheets were filled out for those looking for a church home and others needing assistance. RSVP below to our next outreach and event dates.

‘Til next time… See You on the Streets!

2nd Annual MSP Fun Fest with Dunbar Kids// Event Highlights

Saturday November 21st, 2015 was the 2nd annual MSP Fun Fest with Dunbar Kids and it marked the final event of the year.  It was a very brisk wintry day, so attendance was lower than expected, but everyone who came out had a blast; from the the smallest child to the oldest adult.  Saved, St Lien, and MiNiMe did a fantastic job performing on stage as DJ G kept the music blasting.  Over 25 people showed up to volunteer and gave generously of their effort and time.  Four people gave their life to Christ and several others were able to fill out a Hot Sheet for additional assistance.

Men Standing Positive would like to thank the follow organizations and individuals: Concept Remodels for the advertising sponsorship, the Rock Church in Soulard for the free clothing and Thanksgiving meal, DJ G with New Life Music, Blanks Bounce House, East St. Louis School District 189, Dunbar Elementary School, and Principle Coleman for the facility, gift baskets, and support.  And last but not least, to everyone who came out- participant and volunteer, without everyone working as a team this event would not have been possible.  The Men Standing Positive team can hardly to wait see what next year has in store for Dunbar Elementary and the kids!  Be on the lookout for the highlight video coming soon, and read below for what some had to say about MSP Fun Fest 2015!  Click Here to View the Photos!!

‘Til Next Year…See You on the Streets!

As an educator, I encourage my students to ‘pay it forward’.  They had a chance to see words turn into action.  The Fun Fest was just an inspirational sight to see.  MiNiMe is awesome and I look forward to volunteering next year.

~S. Keeler, PLD Teacher

Fun Fest was awesome!  I think it’s awesome that MSP finds a way to reach the community.  One thing that they always do is feed people.  Even if it’s just a bag of chips.  It’s funny how food brings people together.  Not only that, but the sound is always great.  There just seems to be joy and peace in the atmosphere whenever MSP throws an event.  You can’t say that about every ministry.  I have done events all over the city and I’ve seen a lot of things.  A ministry that is consistent will stand long.  My hat goes off to MSP and what they do for the city.  MSP Fun Fest was nothing different.  It is what is to be expected from MSP!  Any event full of Jesus, full of God, full of joy, full of love, full of peace, and smiles.

~ St. Lien, MSP Fun Fest Artist

This is by far my most favorite event of the school year.  Not only does it allow me the opportunity to fellowship with members of the community, but  MiNiMe is such an inspiration and motivation to the students.  His ability to leave such a profound and long~lasting impression is truly something to be admired.

~C. Coleman, PLD Principal

Matthew 25:34-40 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

Matthew 25:21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’ ”

He can say it better than I.  Great work for His Kingdom.  Glad to be a part.

~G. Collins, The Rock Church in Soulard Volunteer

It was refreshing to see a young artist give back to the community.  Everything was top notch and I can’t wait until next year.

~C. Johnson, PLD  Parent

Thanksgiving Comes to an East St. Louis Elementary School

Amidst the chaos going on in East St. Louis, the murders, and recent teacher strike- an underground awakening is happening. Now that the smoke from the strike has cleared and students have returned to the classroom, many are calling for change. Local leaders, parents, and students are beginning to take a stand for their community- recognizing the impact they have in their own neighborhoods to make a difference. Last year Men Standing Positive spent fall 2014 on the streets of East St. Louis and in the Washington Park community doing outreach, a block party, and a conference- the movement was titled Impact East Side. This year they were invited to return to Dunbar Elementary School and host MSP Fun Fest for the students, parents, and all staff. East St. Louis Senior High School and Mason Clark Middle School have also been invited to join. The free event Saturday November 21st, 2015 from 1 pm – 4 pm includes live music by local St. Louis rap/hip-hop artists: St.Lien, Saved, and MiNiMe, DJ G on the 1’s and 2’s, a bounce house, as well as a Thanksgiving dinner, and clothing giveaway provided by the Rock Church- Soulard campus. In addition, program information will be available for those interested in job training, counseling, rehabilitation, career coaching, and more.
