Saturday August 1st, 2015 the Men Standing Positive team prayed with many on the streets; two accepted Christ, and three filled out MSP Hot Sheets for extra assistance. It’s not everyday you get a chance to do street ministry with those truly led by the Holy Spirit and bold enough to unashamedly share God’s love. MSP Ministries has the great privilege of working with dedicated volunteers who even understand how to reach people most everyone would completely disregard. Many lives have been touched because someone on our outreach team had the courage to speak to them or even simply smile. Nowadays in our busy society, everyone seems to pay more attention to their phone than the person walking next to them or waiting in line at the store. Outreach isn’t just across the world in a foreign land; outreach is about reaching those at your job and those in your own neighborhood. You are surrounded by those people for a reason- you possess the love of God inside you and the ability to share it. So be bold- let the love that conquered the grave out for the world to see. It’s what they desperately need, they just don’t realize because they can’t see it. So show them- be bold.
Saturday June 6th, 2015 marked the first official MSP Outreach of the summer. Due to a scheduling conflict, there were no flyers for the upcoming Young Women’s Conference or Hot Sheets at the meeting place, but God still had a plan. After prayer, the team promptly headed out to the streets of Soulard. Only one block from the church, Adrienne Ransom and two other volunteers came across a man walking down the street. He seemed highly frustrated as the two struck up a conversation. The man had just had a major fight with his girlfriend, jumped out of her car, and did not know what to do. They had been having relationship issues for some time due to his drinking problem. Adrienne began to pray for him- that God would touch his heart and set him free from the alcohol. As the prayer ended, the man was in tears thanking God for sending help his way at that exact moment.
Simultaneously, two other team members- Bill and Mary Neumann, saw this man’s girlfriend crying in her car and had gone over to minister to her. As the three of them talked, the woman explained her situation and how she felt helpless and alone. As Adrienne and the man walked back over to his girlfriend’s car, she felt led to speak to the woman. She explained to her the importance of commitment, communication, and submitting to one another. While they were talking, the man decided to get back into his girlfriend’s car. Next, Adrienne felt led to ask them to re-dedicate their lives to Jesus. Both had the faith, but felt separated from God. They agreed it was necessary to come to Jesus- individually and as a couple. With tears streaming down their faces, the man and his girlfriend came back to Christ that day as the entire team surrounded them in prayer. The couple plans to keep God at the center of their lives and to start attending the Rock Church in Soulard together. Despite the conflicts at the beginning, God still had a plan to reach that couple as the team obeyed His leading out on the streets. God will always turn a mess around for the best, if you allow Him. MSP Effective Evangelism Conference- Sunday October 26th, 2014
Christians should never be intimidated by evangelism and shy away from sharing their faith. In fact, your daily lifestyle and attitude toward others speaks more of your beliefs than any words you will ever say. At the MSP Effective Evangelism Conference on October 26th, Mike ‘MiNiMe’ Wuebbles delivered a practical message about sharing the Gospel with those around you. Every believer is fully able to tell others about Christ if they would realize it is not about winning a theological argument. The world needs to know how Jesus changed your life and helps you on a daily basis. Christianity is about a personal relationship with God, not a list of religious doctrines. You may be the only example of Jesus someone ever sees in their life. Do not be intimidated to talk about your faith. MiNiMe said it best, “You have what it takes to take over the enemy’s territory; you just have to believe it.”
Directly following the message, Adrienne Ransom struck up a conversation with a lady from the community. The day before she had come home from work, heard the music from DJ G’s jeep and saw the cross coming down her street. Her neighbor was outside and told her about the MSP Effective Evangelism Conference the following day at Harvest Church Illinois. She decided to come out to see what it was all about after one of the MSP team members handed her a flyer with more information. The lady was in awe of the practical message, the free food, and the programs that were available. She felt extremely blessed and decided to make Harvest her church home. Adrienne also signed her up on the hot sheets to receive some assistance with food and clothing. In all, the 2014 MSP Effective Evangelism Conference was a great success. We would especially like to thank the Harvest Church Illinois for hosting this event, and also coming out on the streets with us all month, as we spread the Word around the local area. Last but not least, one family came down to the conference all the way from Hannibal, MO. Watch here to see what it meant to them.
